|Nails| Lorde Inspired Nail Art

DSC03171 - Just Biffi
Lately, I’ve been really into Lorde’s music (and by lately, I means since Royals dropped).  I think she writes smart and thought provoking lyrics, with great and addictive sounds to match.  All her drama and beefs aside, I really like what she has to say from a creative stand point (and she makes me jealous of her vision and drive at the age of 16!).

When the music video for Team came out, I was a big fan of the visuals.  I liked the opposition of the inner city vs. the smoky secret society, in which Lorde herself is performing.  As of late, Lorde has been sporting a really bold dark lip, a trend that I love as well, but I wanted to find a way to reinvent it into nail art.  I took the colour of her lips as the base, her eyeshadow as the accent and added my love of 3D elements into this edgy, yet polished nail art look.

I hope you enjoy checking out how I created this nail art manicure.  If you know me, you know that nail art is a key part of my overall style, so it was only natural that it would become a feature of Just Biffi.

Stay tuned to Just Biffi and my YouTube channel Jessica Biffi, for more videos and tutorials to come!  And if you haven’t yet, check out Team by Lorde.

|Style| Pretty For A Big Girl?

FOC Apparel Pretty for a Big Girl? campaign shot

A few months ago my friend Jelissa, asked me if I would help her do makeup for a new crewneck sweater campaign that her friends were launching.  Turns out her friends were none other than Sasha and Garcia of Flaws of Couture.  I had met Sasha previously at Big Deal Toronto (I even bought a lil’ somthin’ somthin’ from her closet).  Excited to help out and collaborate with the FOC ladies I was happy to help.  It was a real “all in the family” gig, since my bf was also doing the photography.
Makeups - 800
Makeup: Jessica Biffi and Jelissa Matthew
The ladies had a very clear vision for the campaign, girls with attitude.  Which is fitting considering the statement being made commands attention.  Each girl had her own look, but the vibe was cohesive.  The focus was on the eyes - dramatic and sexy.
As a thank you, Sasha sent me my very own crewneck!  Thanks so much ladies!  I am proud to promote the message and make a point!  Pretty For A Big Girl? No question!
